Grassroots Football Initiative Heads to Liverpool

After the scheme 'Parklife' attracted more than 34,000 people in Sheffield in it's first year, it has been launched in Liverpool with four football hubs planned to be opened by Summer 2018.

The Parklife project aims to get more people involved in grassroots football using high level, financially sustainable and accessible pitches.

"We're proud to have been appointed by Liverpool City Council on this second landmark project to develop high-class soccer facilities," said Warren Ormerod, director of soccer for Pulse Soccer, a division of the Pulse Group.

The Pulse Group will run the pitches on behalf of the Liverpool City Council, the FA, The Football Foundation, Premier League and Sport England.

The Parklife project shows just one example of different schemes being run by authorities in order to bypass a lack of funding from central government, with council pitches often having to be sold in order to fund local governments.

This trend has resulted in local clubs, little leagues, taining camps and other grassroots football organisations not having a location to play in.

The FA have looked to fund these types of initiatives as a result, with Grow the Game also being a popular scheme that is looking to assist the grassroots game in the country.
