The FA have announced a further £9m more a year towards grassroots facilities, with an emphasis on youth clubs and primary schools. An extra £6m a year has been committed to grassroots participation also.

A great deal of this will be spent on ensuring each youth team in England has a coach with at least a level one qualification. The FA are also looking to back the increase in 'community club hubs' by assuring a UEFA B level mentor is subsidized to each club.

The spending comes as an overall £138m being committed next year from the FA to spend on the game.

This is because the quality and availability of pitches is the biggest factor in how often people in England play football, according to the 2015 grassroots football FA survey.
