FINAL PIECE: Only Jumpers for Goalposts

The FA has been under intense pressure for many years to improve the health of grassroots football in England, as a result of consistent failure from the national team, and a decline in available, quality football pitches for those playing at a lower level. The signs of decline in grassroots football have been well documented, but with success for the England youth teams in recent years, is there a positive future for the origins of English football?

The radio documentary is aimed at BBC Radio 5 Live, and looks to investigate how important grassroots football is for local communities and peoples livelihoods, as well as gain an idea as to what type of funding is going into the amateur game in this country, and whether it is set to lead to a bright future for it.

I hope you enjoy the piece!
